What we look out for—and what cheap, unregulated imports often fail to avoid.
Chemical Exposure
Plastics and foams can contain toxic additives like phthalates, BPA/BPS, and toxic flame retardants. These chemicals are notorious endocrine disruptors, yet are frequently found in cheap, imported nursery mattresses and teething toys.
Heavy Metals
Lead, cadmium, and arsenic are still regularly discovered in the paints, coatings, and cheap metal alloys used in imported toys. These neurotoxins pose severe risks to developing brains when children mouth or chew on these items.
Physical Integrity
Poor construction leads to physical risks: brittle plastics that shatter into sharp edges, splintering wood, easily detached small parts (choking hazards), and loose high-powered magnets that cause catastrophic internal injuries if swallowed.
The Domestic Regulation Advantage
The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) enforces some of the strictest child safety regulations in the world. When a product is genuinely manufactured in the USA, the facility is subject to domestic laws, inspections, and immediate accountability.
In contrast, a massive influx of direct-to-consumer imports bypasses meaningful inspection. Foreign factories often swap materials to cut costs, substituting safe plastics for toxic scrap, or safe paints for lead-based alternatives—long after the initial "safety testing" is passed.
By verifying that a product is made here, we are verifying that it falls under a robust, enforceable regulatory umbrella.
