What changed, and why.
Certifications lapse. Formulations change. We get things wrong. When a record changes we say so here rather than editing it quietly — including the corrections, which are the entries worth reading.

Moved the database to PostgreSQL so the site can be hosted for nothing.
Managed Postgres is free at this scale where Azure SQL is not. Two things broke silently in the move and are worth recording: LIKE wildcard escaping is provider-specific and would have made searches quietly return nothing, and PostgreSQL rejects any timestamp that isn't UTC.

Documented why Australia, New Zealand and Japan are absent from the recall mirror.
The ACCC's feed returns 403 to automated requests — a deliberate block we won't route around. New Zealand and Japan publish no documented machine-readable feed. A scraper would work in all three cases; we're not writing one.

Launched the Safety Watch: directory brands with regulator recall notices on record, most recalled first.
Each row shows the regulator's own finding — authority, date, hazard and a link to the notice. We add no commentary; only exact company-name matches are attributed.

The directory no longer leads with American manufacturing.
Origin used to decide which of two trust systems a brand belonged to — "verified American-made" or "trusted despite not being American". The second category was defined by a negative, which is a judgement dressed up as a structure. There is now one catalogue; origin is a filter like any other, and the regulatory regime a product is made under is recorded as a plain fact.

Marketing copy, affiliate and review sites, and AI summaries without attribution are not sources and are never cited here.
